Defective Ableton Move

Post by atryg » Fri Jan 10, 2025 9:49 am

I recently received my Ableton Move unit. Upon starting it up i noticed some strange behaviour. I first encountered this when twisting the volume knob, this was after the initial setup with wifi and so on.

When turning the volume knob, the display would occasionally jump to other settings (according to what instrument was selected) so that while turning the volume knob, the display would jump between "Volum", "Release", "LFO", "Attack" and so on.

I thought this was a minor bug and tried restarting, re-setup, and also power-cycling the unit. But the problem persisted.

As of after the first reboot of the unit, not only did the initial problem persist, but now the unit also jumps between different options (again based on which instrument is selected) by itself. The values for each setting also changes by itself, and turning the knob counter clockwise makes the values go down at first, then up again (still counter clockwise by my hand).

I have posted a service post to ableton, but have yet to hear anything from them. Has anyone encountered this behaviour or something similar. I would really love my unit to work the way it is supposed to.

But I guess I just have to wait until the Ableton Gods find it in them to answer my support claim.

i have the exact same problem after updating to the newest firmware. anyone else? if this is a firmware bug, no problem, it happens. i can wait for a new firmware update. just want to be sure my unit is not broken. it worked fine until today, though.
