Re-enabling automation after launch clip

Post by spottist » Sun Jan 26, 2025 11:06 am

In my arrangements, I often use a midi clip with launch data to change the patch of a device, but when I do so, it disables all automation previously recorded on that channel. I know how to re-enable it and there's a Max device that can automate re-automation but is there a simple way of stopping it happening in the first place or immediately re-enabling it automatically using native controls? Thanks

Why is it bothering you ? Do you have something in arrangement view in the same track ?

Yes, I've got multiple songs in the same Live set and each VSTi uses a different patch in each song. I'm constructing an album in a single Live set

What about having a dedicated track just for sending the PC messages ?

That's a great idea. I can't get it to work though. I have made a dedicated midi track, dropped the midi clip containing the control message there and set the midi output of the control track to the target track with the VSTi on, but nothing happens
