Rhythmic steps: Trigger different patterns?

Using Rhythmic Steps, I want to trigger different patterns on the fly with midi notes, just like legato triggering midi clips that have been mapped to midi notes.


So far (and for years) I have been using the Megababy Nandymod sequencer from Reaper to do this.

I haven't found a way so far (tried key mapping separate instances to rack chains, and sending to midi tracks - no dice)
