Thank you Ableton: Follow Actions for Clips & Scenes
Re: Thank you Ableton: Follow Actions for Clips & Scenes
It's a big one (cue Sid James laughter).

Along with the expressive chords and auto filter updates -- dare I say it feels like ableton might be listening and giving us more push some decent baseline performative features. Push might find a spot back on the desk if we keep it going!
Re: Thank you Ableton: Follow Actions for Clips & Scenes
Yeah it’s a great update.
Who knows what goes on behind the scenes. Maybe Push 3 was a massive gamble. Maybe they got away with it by the skin of their teeth. Maybe the accountants said you gotta release Push now, we don’t care if it’s not finished, otherwise we’re f’kd. Maybe Move had to happen before updates to pay for Push. Maybe they’re where they need to be finally and can just press ahead completing both platforms.
Up until Push 3 they were only really a software company with one product. They neither designed nor manufactured Push 1 or 2.
This update does seem to indicate a healthy future for the platform.
Yay!

push 2 was designed by ableton if i remember correct. the big difference with push 3 is its standalone capability. stuff like follow scenes should have been there on day 1, but at least its here now. i really do think that ableton cares quite a lot when it comes to push. its their first real standalone product so i feel that there is still a lot to come.

Yeah I agree Follow actions should have been on day one, along with time signatures. I avoided upgrading to Push3 for more than a year because I've learned my lesson waiting on vaporware, but someone sold one on craigslist for peanuts so it just got used as a Live controller for the last year.sinik wrote: ↑Sat Mar 15, 2025 5:20 pmpush 2 was designed by ableton if i remember correct. the big difference with push 3 is its standalone capability. stuff like follow scenes should have been there on day 1, but at least its here now. i really do think that ableton cares quite a lot when it comes to push. its their first real standalone product so i feel that there is still a lot to come.
I'm very happy they finally did it, but it is one of those things, if you're a long time Ableton user, logical moves you know they eventually have to make, happen glacially. I've accepted that at this point and I'm happy that Follow Actions are here.

I really should get around to running all three of my standalone devices (Push, Maschine+ and MPC X SE) synced with Link. Just for sh*ts and giggles.

Yep, P2 was already Ableton.
