[Feature Request] Backing up & Uploading Move Sets

Post by p_side » Tue Nov 12, 2024 8:06 pm

I plan on mainly using Ableton Move for live performances spanning multiple sets.

When I create a set on Move and am satisfied with how it sounds, I have to leave this set on my Move and be extra careful that I don't accidentally delete or modify it.

I would love to be able to back up these sets to my computer. This way I could securely build my performance without having to constantly worry about losing anything.

I would then like to be able to upload all my backed-up sets back to my Move when I'm ready to perform.

Thanks! :D

What I would like to see: when choosing a set, if you held your finger on it, you could then scroll through versions of that set via the screen, allowing you to see the date for each version it has available.

Like, if I screw up an idea, and want to return to a previous version, that would be nice.

Would also like to see the ability to set set projects to "read-only" via the set view and screen, and likewise, specify some versions of a set to remain permanently and stay as read-only. Meaning you could toy with alternate versions for shows spontaneously, either on the spot, or before it, and still be able to play the usual set on other dates, but spice it up with something different that feels relevant and fitting.

Backing up sets - could be great if I could save all sets at once in Move Menager, because now I must click each to save :(

Backing up sets is easily done by downloading them from the Move Manager.
Uploading them is tricky though: you can export a set from your computer to Note on your phone; then move the set to Cloud from Note; and then find it on Move as a Cloud set.

Thank you for the feedback!

Sadly, I am an Android user and don't have access to Ableton Note. I really hope to see a 'Upload Set' feature directly within Move Manager eventually!

Thats fascinating… I don’t have a feature in my move-manager to upload the "version I have locally". – I also thought this would be a feature, but it is not there.

I found a solution that worked for me. The files that is shown up in Live in Ableton cloud are .abl files. They are worthless in regards to uploading them later to note or move. They can’t be opened in note.

Only the downloaded files from the move manager are good archives. They are .ablbundle and they can be opened on the iPhone or iPad to the note-app. From there the song can be put on the Ableton Cloud and show up on move again.

A simple "Download all sets" would be great so I don't have to click 32 buttons....
