EnableArmOnSelection in Live 12?
having issues with Options.txt in my 12.0 folder, seems like adding -EnableArmOnSelection isn't working? Wondering if this was removed in 12, or if a setting could be added into the UI in the next patch? thanks
Re: EnableArmOnSelection in Live 12?
I just stumbled over the 'EnableArmOnSelection' by coincidence in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iAaxuEl ... nel=TAETRO and immediately tried it out: it works!
(Ableton Live Intro 12.0.1)
I created an 'options.txt' file in this folder:
C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Ableton\Live 12.0.1\Preferences
With nothing but his line:
-EnableArmOnSelection
After restarting Live, it works.
What I'm curious about:
There is no reference to the parameter '-EnableArmOnSelection' on the Ableton help-page about the options.txt.
I personally even can't understand why one wants to have this setting NOT set, so I don't understand why EnableArmOnSelection isn't the default in the first place.
What am I missing?

When playing live I certainly want to select a track while playing keyboard on another.

I have this working on Live 12, but am concerned by this line in the Live docs:
Specifically, it is not recommended to install the option:
-EnableArmOnSelection
when using Push 2 or Push 3 to control Live.

If you need this feature, plus the flexibility of de/activating it easily, you can use this M4L device.

Since updating to 12.2 yesterday this no longer works for me, it did in 12.1.11. Very annoying

It still does for me on 12.2 on my M3 Max running Sonoma.

Interesting, there's hope then. Can't see what the issue could be though. I'm using an M1 Max running Ventura.

Re: EnableArmOnSelection in Live 12?
A quick follow up. It seems to work now. I have to arm a track first, then it functions when selecting other tracks. I don't remember having to do this before, but I could be wrong.

This has always been the case.
I checked Live 10, 11, and earlier versions of 12 to see if I wasn't misremembering, and I wasn't.
Perhaps you normally use a MIDI controller that auto-arms a track, so you don't have to do it manually first.
