Montrealbreaks is outta here!!!

Post by montrealbreaks » Sat Nov 19, 2005 6:08 pm

Hey all. I've been thinking of changing my handle for a while - I don't live in Montreal right now (I'm in Ottawa for the time being). But, I wanted to reach 1000 posts. So, here it is, my 1000th, and I have to registered a new name;

M. Bréqs

I have really enjoyed my time here, and a few people on these boards know me by my handle, but hopefully this won't cause too much confusion. I just can't stay calling myself Montrealbreaks when I left town 7 months ago!

For info on special characters, check:
http://www.scoug.com/os24u/1998/latin1cs.html

By the way, to write an é in HTML: &#233 followed by a ;
(no spaces at all, character sensitive)

With this, I say bye-bye from Montrealbreaks. L8er!

hey Mr Brééééééééqs!
welcome on the forum!

PS: an easy solution to writing accents is to be french, and have a french keyboard. but then you'd rather not own a car...

Heh. Yeah, you're right. A ce moment, je n'ai pas un clavier francais. C'est une grande irritation... Ma prochaine ordi va avoir un clavier francais, parce qu'ils sont plus flexible.

Yeah, it's kind of funny - When I speak french, I come off as an anglophone with a prarie hick English accent so thick you could stick a pitchfork in it. The thoroughly french looking name is quite a self-deprication with francophones, particularly because the word "breaks" (in the breakbeat sense) doesn't exist in French. "M. Casser" would be proper (though still somewhat nonsensical as it doesn't refer to a breakbeat, but rather to the verb "to break" in the sense "to damage").

That, and it's nothing but phonetic spelling of an English word using typically French characters. It's like pretending to speak French by speaking English while mimicing a Monty-Python style "outrageous french accent". Anyways, I found it funny to portray an Anglo trying incredibly hard to come off as french yet screwing it up completely!

huh. Linguistic humour. as dry as a mouthful of sand... sorry all.
