Hi,

What you've got to do is build the set you want as a template, then go to the preferences, default pane, and hit "save" in front of the word "template". You're done,

is there anyway that i can get the original template back (i.e. the one which is there when u first install) because my template at the moment seems to cause a serious program error when i try and load clips. I just want to start from afresh or is the only way altering my current (not working) template.

thanks for your help.

It is located in the preferences folder. You can delete it I guess, it will recreate itself (just an assumption). read section 5.5.3 of the manual, it's explained there.
If you uninstall Live, you'll probably have to delete it by hand before reinstalling, thus it will reinstall properly. deleting the file preferences.cfg in the preferences folder sometimes heals problems too.

best,
