Problem w/ Live and eMagic EMI 2|6 w/ ASIO

When I use Live 2.0 with an eMagic EMI 2|6 with ASIO drivers, I get mega distortion even at the highest latency setting (100ms). Live works fine using the DirectX/MME drivers down to about 20ms. However, I tested the Acid Pro 4.0 demo using ASIO and it sounds fine, on the same machine, which tells me it's not the EMI. My machine is a pc with an Athlon AMD 1800 processor w/ 256MB running Windows 2000 Pro. I have the latest drivers, also.
This happens regardless if Windows has the EMI set as the default audio device, or not.
Any help is really appreciated. Thanks.

Hi burmson,

There is an improvement for the EMI 2|6 on Win2000 / WinXP since the 1.5.1 update.

To activate it, please do the following things:

1) Please create a text file called "Options.txt" in the ".../ableton/Live 2.0.2/Preferences" folder if it still doesn't exist there.

2) Open this file and add the line "-AsioSupportProcessNow=1" and save the file.

3) If you start Live now it should be possible to get better latencies with the EMI.

i just got a EMI 2 6 and saw this so i thought i would try it.

with the added text file i was able to get my playbck latency down to wicked levels.

however... for recording it made things worse... i got dropouts at all settings.

funny.

but it kicks ass for only playback.

Got my Asio playback down to 4ms - which is the max for 44K/16 bit - with the 2|6 (XP / P4).

Even Logic won't give me that...

Props to Ableton.

I have no EMI 6|2 here but because the driver is the same like the one for the EMI 2|6 I guess it will work too.
