There isn't a NO option.
I do not like downloaded music as a format.
And I don't particularly like MP3's either.
Call me old skool.
I have some 2000+ Vinyl and a very large CD collection.
I much prefer the hands on experience of owning a tangible product.
I even prefer getting my software in the purchased hardbox versions (from a retailer) for the same reason.
So I don't download music illegally and never have done.
I'd rather order a hard to get CD and wait myself.
I've never done file sharing of any sort with signed artist or unsigned artist material for that matter.
I have never even ripped a CD copy for another person.
I am obviously the odd one out here I guess    .
My aren't the wings of butterflies beautiful and do they not make wonderful perturbations.....

also , for the record , id like to recommend that everyone here download , illegally , buena vista social club mp3;s instead of buying the cds. the musicians dont get a smidgen of the cash accumulated from sales , they're not allowed to - due to some cuban law. there was/is a legal battle going on trying to get them their dues.

check out the bit on the new blu ray discs. sony want to implement a technology that would know when a blu ray disc enabled machine was tampered with (via an obligatory net connection , apparently) and would disable the machine remotely....hehe , what a crock of shit. of course - all these little precedents snowball into acts like this.

medicine is the same , herbs and plants are becoming illegal (easy to grow , and free) and only the pills that pharmacutical companies make are to be obtained (virtually impossible to make yourself. actually wait , they are impossible to make yourself. and probably illegal to make yourself for fear of depriving some ballbag a few dollars.) thats how it is in ireland now anyways. big companies fund medical schools , and in turn big companies educate the doctors , and in turn the big companies dictate what you are to buy when your sick from breathing the big companies noxious factory omissions.....etc etc

this topic really is a tin of worms , it will take solidarity and an abscence of greed to right the wrongs , we should not stand for it. the sound of revolution is the sound of glass breaking

the world is full of gullable people , and sociopaths who tell them what they want to hear. and a few people who see the truth , and try to tell the gullable whats going on. but its not what they want to hear , they want to be believe the flattering bullshit they're being fed by the fat , rich sociopaths.

so when this ideology filters through everything , from medicine to music....well , we're fucked.

also , the polls question is worded incorrectly. by saying pirated , you are automatically saying its wrong , immoral , incorrect.......perhaps 'have you ever downloaded commercially available music without paying for it' would be better , and adding a NO option , and removing the 'yes but only once' option

there is lots of electronic music being published under "free licenses" on the internet. the difficult thing about it is to find out where and when. thank god there is journalists and bloggers that write about it. good starting point could be: www.de-bug.de/pod

this site is from a german magazine for electronic music, they make a podcast with lots of minimal, some breaks and some ambient and miscellaneous stuff. you find links to several dozens of so called "netlabels" in the column on the right.

feel free to post more links for stuff to discover for free.

Ah, well, that's exactly the way he wants us to think, so the question should be, "What does he have to gain?", hmm?

That's what I'm saying brother. Only in plainer(?) English. Beautfully said. So fucked up.

Sigh... At least there is satisfaction of hearing it mentioned, in lieu of any immediate, concrete action.

assuming that Robert has no plans to release a 'Live' album. I'd love a desk recording of one of his recent shows.

to re-live the Version festival that has now become a bit hazy in my mind

mosca,
there's a link somewhere here to paxahau.com (think that's how you spell it) which has a couple of monolake shows to stream in realplayer. Only 33kbps but if you buy a tshirt or a sticker set they send you a free (higher quality) cd of your choice from their archive. And at the risk of sounding like an asskisser, the monolake one I listened to was excellent.
