amd laptop 2 laptop ableton 5 setup issues.
i need some good suggestions.. ive got a HP pavillion zv5000 and ive got ableton live 5.. the cpu is the 64 bit AMD 3400+ and ive got a GIG of RAM and a 7200 rpm drive. Ive got a show coming up and i recently Reinstalled a newer copy of windows and updated some drivers. Im getting a couple issues. First off it never ran very good before on here.. but now i load more than 4-5 samples and ive got a 78% cpu load, and if I try switching them suddenly I run a disk overload which never stops. To make matters worse ive got the loudest damn cpu hiss on my PC. I would use an external sound card, 'cept i sync to another PC and Drum machine and i use the card buffer adjustments to sync them (which is a whole other nightmare) as it seems the midi clock sync doesn't seem to do SHIT.. please, has anyone had similar problems?
chris - your hiss is probably caused by PC needing proper grounding. in the US you can use a 3 prong --> 2 prong adapter which basically removes the earth and gets rid of the hissing. very dangerous, but i've been using it for years and others have too... its also the cheapest option.
also, i would check the power options are set to always on. and check the CPU clock speed in the right-click My Computer --> hardware it should be close to the proper max clock speed if smaller then your computer is runnign on power saving options which means it runs at slower speed.
finally make sure you have no crappy services running such as anti-virus or other services that youdon't know anythin about.
happy christmas!

yeah its not a ground hum, its specific hiss' to things like the mouse moving.. i think its just 'cause the sound card is junk.. but it wasn't so bad before. and about the cpu saving issues... ive never been able to find those options.. ive got all the windows tweaks on... and have it so the hdd never turns off, no screen effects or savers and all that jazz, but have never seen any cpu options. also i run no other programs.. im tellin ya my head is hurting over this shit...

Did you do ALL 25 tweaks?
Did you disable wireless in the BIOS? I have the AMD 3200+ HP and it runs pretty good
