I have the same issue
i was runnin a livest on a P4 2,4ghz, with live 4.1.4 and there where sometimes problems od CPU but it was also well charged with filters and some Psp vintage warmers.
i upgraded to a powerbook 1,5ghz for the moment with 256mb of ram, i also bought live 5.0.3 and on this version is not possible to run the same set that i lately tried on live 4.1.4 and it work good...
So tomorrow night i will play my set on a live 4.1.4 which seems to turn better in session mode.
I really hope that this will be soon fixed

I'll also add my name to those who are having this issue. I'm using a P4 2.8Ghz 512MB RAM machine and am getting weird dropouts with something as simple as a few midi tracks with only a couple of effects.
However, someone suggested to me that this could be attributed to having a cheap onboard soundcard that just can't handle the output of Live, so I should buy an external audio interface. I'm not too cluey when it comes to hardware and haven't been using Live for long, so i'm not sure if this is a real possibility. Anyone out there know if a new soundcard could help matters?

Alright, something kinda strange just happened to my computer...
As i've said, i've had problems with Live dropping out and CPU overloads. As I was using the program, my computer simply died. No blue screen, no reset, just turned itself off. At which point I obviously panicked. Badly.
So I opened it up and found that the P4 fan had clumps of dust clogging it (yes, I do know I should be looking after my precious compy better). So I removed the offending rubbish and powered up again, fingers firmly crossed.
Though i've only been using the computer for half an hour or so since then, I thankfully haven't noticed any problems. However, I got straight back onto Live and suddenly, there are next to no CPU spikes, the general CPU usage is far lower and i've had barely an audio cut out at all - even with some of the more intense projects running.
I can only assume that the dust in the fan was causing the processor to overheat and not function properly, but not being a techphile I can't really be certain - just thought I would pass it on.
