why, why, why?
why, why, why?
why live 5.0.3 runs better with the internal soundcard of my iBook G4 rather than with my saffire
I think they run better than anything because they are built into the mac and standard.I have noticed similar things
Obviously got good solid drivers built by Apple for an apple
If you know what I mean...
Damn I would like one of those Sapphires
Does it work well enough though ?

MacBook MacOS Live 9.7.1 Max for Live Push Logic
the strange thing is that saffire is class compliant, no drivers required, you only install the plugins and the saffire control...
anyway saffire works quite well, good quality in recording guitar, good stability with reason 2.5 and logic express 7 (sometimes little problems with firewire connection in logic) and strange glitches with live....but bfore i had an audiophile firewire...and that was a real hell!!

apples firewire is a little lame.stegi wrote:the strange thing is that saffire is class compliant, no drivers required, you only install the plugins and the saffire control...

open up terminal next time you plug in the saffire
and run "top" without the quotes..
look for the kernal process, it will probably be sitting anywhere from
10-20% of the cpu... this is the firewire....
unplug the firewire and the kernal process will drop dramatically..
does the same thing for my m-audio 410 (which requires drivers)
and for my edirol fa-66 (which doesn't require drivers)
this is an apple issue.
it pisses me off..
( the same two firewire devices on my pc run perfectly with little to NO
latency allowing me to play realtime guitar through effects.. sigh)
