hello.
i own pro tools and i find beat detective the most revolutionary tool in quantizing audio.
here is how it works...in arrange window you slice in recycle style a piece of audio (drum loop ) in several regions and then in the arrange window you quantize audio regions with the same midi quantize settings like regular midi tracks.
all at sample accuracy level.the result is amazing. All audio loops and midi notes have the same feel and sounds so tight....
and all with 4 mouse clicks.
no recycle involved
no changing windows
just amazing...
i think consolidate is a feature that ableton took from pro tools like several other features so...beat detective !
thanks
mihai
ps. i'm shure ableton dvelopers can find a much better implementation of this feature in pure ableton style.

i find Ableton's beat detect algorhythm to be most unreliable
some tracks it nails right-on, but mostly i have to set the bars every couple of measures, it can't handle any kind of swing in a rhythm
mixmeister has the best algorhythm, methinks
esp in version 6
if mixmeister was available for mac, i might have never invested in ableton
thx,
Jason D
