if you can't get a good sound of a CZ-101... the problem isn't casio.
its your lack of imagination.

They Might Be Giants got more awesome sounds out of that board than most realize.
Ani DiFranco once said "every tool is a weapon if you hold it right". I'll append that and say if you can't hold it right... you're a tool.

also "gay" is a very childish nomenclature.

Casio does not cater to any kind of pro or studio based user. All of Casio's keyboards are consumer level or budget digital pianos. Their PX series is actually really awesome for what it is. And what it is, is quite simply the most affordable way to get into an 88 key weighted piano setup. Kids and adults who play piano for piano's sake love them. Casio's WK line competes directly with Yamaha's DGX line, and is IMHO a far better board. But no one on here (myself included) is looking for a consumer level board or a budget 88 weighted digital piano.

That said, every sampler on earth that gets released for commercial sale pays royalties to casio because they own the patent on it- were the first to do it.

I love my CZ100, it's really simple to program and it's got a lovely "warm" sound to it, even though it's didital.

the last time i ran into a casio keyboard at the gay bar, miss thang made some bleepy noise and pushed its way into the bathroom.

i am not sure if it was there to pick someone up or just for the music.

Most Casio keyboards are Consumer level. They make/have made a few pro level models, the CZ series are good examples. They are still sorta entry level but definitally not crap. I like My CZ-101 but it is tedious to program.

so if i am a dyke, and i use ableton live for my production, does that make ableton live gay? i know we supposedly recruit, but i dunno if software/synths/computers are subject to such things...

and ooooh did we used to have fun with that little casio sampling keyboard back in the day. quite fun for prank phone calls, i must say!

CZ 101 is a winner for me.... top little machine... the FZ stuff was alright in the day as well really....

though I must agree that just about everything else they have made is pretty crap for 'pro' use... but thats not what most of their products are aimed at really is it... horses for courses and all that :)

I can thank casio for getting my little kid hands making synth sounds. Also the ones that have midi are great for a tool around battle ready controller. I can get them for a few bucks at good will and not have to worry about them getting stolen or broken. I love my SK 1 and 8 too. Very high quality for what they are.

I remember waaaaay back in the day (late 70s, early 80s?) riding the schoolbus and a kid had a casio synth that he could program notes into, it was the coolest thing ever. Every day we'd be fascinated by it. To this day I still wonder what the hell it was. It had tiny keys, just a bit larger than your hand and I think it had drum accompanyment.

I guess in the end you have to give them props for making cheap entry level crap that got a lot of kids into music who couldn't otherwise afford it.

ANY synth with built in speakers is... questionable, they make me chuckle at least.

Fax - I miss the old sig already... :(

...and I didn't know people still equated "gay" with lame, cheap and other derogatory adjectives. people are strange.
