Post by sadmac » Thu Mar 09, 2006 4:47 pm

Hi all. I am about to go there this or the next month.
Any suggestions for some cool places, areas, etc would be appreciated plus from the locals i 'd like to know about some musical events like fests, installations, concerts that take place there.

Thanks in advance.

Check this for clubbing.

But at this time, you should go "Asakusa-Aria."
There're shrine and Cherry Blossom along a river.
You can walk there with drinking.

Go to the Roppongi area. Amazing nightlife, beautiful girls and many from all over the world. This is were the young locals and out of towners go to mix it up.

this might seem obvious in hindsight but the best way to find such places
is to find an artist that you respect who has toured there.. & check their website
and see what venues they played at!

eg taylor deupree on 12k.com has toured in japan a few times
& so has christopher willits... deadbeat was there just before my last trip....
lullatone lives there....

plus obviously all & any japanese artists eg have a look
at the websites for fourcolour, minamo, tujiko noriko, ryoji ikeda

it obviously SO depends on what you are into...

but imho Japan is easily the most inspiring country on the planet i have visited....
