Hi All,
Due to file size constraints, the audio files used here are compressed, and as such the remix file will only work in Live 5.

Sorry for the confusion,
Jesse

So what about us Live 4 users....

I havent upgraded because of issues and complaints I have seen on the forums..specifically whan it comes to cpu overhead.....

It would be a shame for me to miss out on this contest....because you don't have the files available for use in Live 4. :(

If you really wany to remix, you could download the set, and convert the MP3s to Aiff or wav in itunes and then use those files, though you won't be able to access the lesson file or the separated clips in session view.

Unfortunately, most future remixes will be in Live 5 format, as linking in lessons, MP3 support and multi-clip adjustments are necessary to get these remix contests up and running.

Best,
Jesse

you could use the beta of 5.2 to have a go ? I think the current beta runs out on the 2nd though.

So, Jesse - what about my question about mailing them a URL to download it from rather than mailing them an 8meg mp3

is that OK, or should I mail the MP3 and be done with it?

Hi Angstrom,
They asked to be sent mp3 files. You could direct your question to mbmremix@thirstyear.com if you'd like, though I'm not sure how often they'll be checking this far before the completion date.

Jesse

Live 4.1.4

Post by kilerrbeee » Wed Mar 01, 2006 11:10 pm

Jesse

Thanks. I think that the conversion will do fine and the fact of not having it organized in the track or session view may make for an interesting remix!

Angstrom suggested for me to use the beta 5.2 but I read on a forum that it was 15% slower on XP systems. If that's true than I rather stick with 4 for now.

I am a little dissapointed in the fact that all future contests .als formats will not be compatible with Live 4. I suppose this is encouragement to upgrade. Does Live 5 take advantage of Intels' Hyper Threading?

no, 5 works better with HT turned off. however i would think that the multi-processor support slated for live 6 will benefit processors with hyperthreading

This is by far the most fun I've had on my computer in months.

And it's helping me learn my way around Live!!

Thanks to whoever put this together. I've been a fan of Jack and his crew since the late 80's.

Unfortunately properly for me -s 5.03 crashes as soon as I move my cursor to any of the drop down menu items.

This is an excellent track and great choice for this contest. The good thing for me is by going through this arrangement is I have already learned many things about Live that I was not aware of.

One thing I still don't understand is why the instructions say : go to bar 301. Is this a joke?

Best regards,
Gordon

I suspect that it is a joke. BUt in the off chance that it's not, does anyone know why bar 301?

Just submitted my mix last night, I had to crunch it down to a bit rate of 160 to get it to email which I HATED doing since I don't like MP3's anyway....

Has anyone heard back confirming receipt of their submission?
Just curious. Anytime I send something off into the ether like this it leaves me wondering if it actually reached it's destination.

We should start a thread to hear each other's mixes when this is all over.

nah, I sent mine off ages ago and heard nothing.

smtp mail as an file upload / entry system is terrible, if Ableton need to do this in future they ought to make a basic php uploader script available to their partners. Theres a few free ones out there, I notice they are still looking for that in house web dev !

if you (Abletonians) are running php5 over there and can stomach a bit of web 2.0 ;)
something like this script would do you, it has a progress bar and status readout.

On the download page, I believe it says you NEED to use Live 5 to do the remix.
