Reaktor 5 or AAS collection?
Reaktor 5 or AAS collection?
Which would you get?
I'm leaning towards the Applied Acoustics collection: Tassman 4, Ultra Analog, Lounge Lizard and String Studio.
hmmm....

Tassman has an awful lot of possibilities also.
Definately EASIER to come to grips with than Reaktor.
I would say Reaktor excells at alot more of the esoteric and oddball end of the spectrum.
Also the huge user library at NI is a BIG drawcard IMHO.
Tassman is a very good physical modelling / modular environment and there is plenty of scope too experiment with hybrid modular/physical modelled synthesis.
You could even process samples through PM based engine structures for example.
Nice step sequences also for classic 70's style synth runs and oddball rythmic step sequencing .
Also some exceptionally good modelling of drums to be had from what I've heard.
I don't have Tassman.
They both sound quite different too each other (always a bonus).
Tassman has a beautiful buttery analog sound that's hard to beat in many respects.
It seems more CPU intensive than Reaktor overall .... mind you there's alot of physical modelling going on under the hood.
Tassman does lovely FM type stuff also I've heard.
Going for both may not be as silly as it seems actually.
Now I'm even talking myself into something I definately canot afford.

Two different beasts, Tassman and Reaktor, both are a must have (if you can afford both!!) But the AAS collection is great, a real beauty (mate, all those synths are awfully good quality stuff!!! ) But, once again... I'll go for both!!!! What you can do with reaktor is amazing... Yeah, I own all of them and all of them where a good investiment I can not compare, I need/love them all!!!!
still paying....
