While it's a common trend on this board for members to post threads about other members I figured since no one has given me my own thread...

well I've never been one to sit on my ass waiting for hand outs so this is my official thread about myself

30 years old
5' 11"
200 lbs

likes, Pizza, fried chicken (don't even go there) Paris Hilton and tekno music

dislikes, hippies, Okra and small breasts

here's my studio (er, spare bedroom with a computer)

Image

here's me in a little jon t-shirt

Image

Here's me and my dog

Image

and this one pretty much sums up this thread - that's goose if you were wondering - the T-Shirt sums it for you!!!

FUCK THA HATERS

Image

Now there should be plenty to talk about - my vanity, my studio, my little Jon T-Shirt

please, dont' hurt my feelings (I'm fragile)

I like all kinds of titties unless they are too droopy or look like they belong on a 50 year old stripper (REALLY fake and hard).

Like Lil' John said "YEAYAH!"
15" PB 2.5 Ghz, 4 Gig RAM, 750 GB HD, Live 9 still no cue points or program change messages?!?. Doesn't do shit.

I also hate okra, but little breasts (or as I affectionately call them, breasties) are great. The big ones just flop around a lot, and if you're not too careful, could take an eye out. And do you have ANY IDEA how bad Live looks when you're performing with just one eye? Depth perception is a serious necessititty (freudian slip) with this software.

Also, is your dog humping your leg? If so, it's a really beautiful romantic shot of the beaches in the Seattle area. True romance at its best.

What's not to like - she's rich, super fabulous, sleezy and has a porno out - her nose could use some work, but who's couldn't

My dog doesn't hump - ever since his balls were removed - I think if more people actually saw a a dog being neutered it wouldn't have such a stigmatism

Since this is my own personal thread (which I will be referring people to for the duration of my stay on Ableton)

I figured something out this weekend - I did a song this weekend and I used no loops from no records - for the first time in my life and it turned out to be a jam - but I need some love - I tried to post it this morning but accidentally uploaded a .wav

here's what I did

I started with the bassline and a rough melody / stab / chord thing

then I put a super fat kick via sample (ok - I did jack that off a record but c'mon - I'm making progress) and Microtonic (which is just the business when it comes to kicks, Yizzur!)

then using Microtonic I made my own percussion loops - bounced to audio

dropped the classic 909 hat's (closed, open and ride) and viola I was on my way

Drums are just drums I'm learning - it's all about the melody's, chords pads and bassline - I was so happy

I love loops but the track sounds way cleaner without recorded loops -

this is my thread and I can talk about whatever I want!

Yeah, there's one Derrick May interview from way back where he suggested leaving all the drum work on a track until the very end. I haven't quite gotten to that point, but I do try to do as little as possible drum stuff at the start as I can. Otherwise, things can get wanky.

also, wooo 206!

Yeah you can do alot with just the metronome - I was having 5.2b9 issues with the metronome though

I think once you have a idea of your bassline and melody you could throw your kick down just for a point of reference

first of all, it doesnt count if you start the topic yourself!!

You have to instigate some dumb asshole into thinking you're serious about everything you say, so THEY start the thread in disgust...

Im not excluded, it happened to me, I'll be the first to admit it...

I think its common when you're at around 2-300 posts...

Anyhoo, on the drums, I usually drop an "appropriate" loop or track in, to get some feel, then I toss something like supatrigga, or livecut, to make it a lot more live feeling in playback.

Then I compose like crazy.

Hmm can't argue with that... :) But if you don't like small breasts, then maybe Paris isn't really for you. You're just getting blinded by the money!

As if Barbie wasn't a bad enough role model for women, Paris Hilton has done nothing but be stupid and slutty. Someone give her a sammich. She actually embodies most of my turn offs; bad blow jobs, blonde hair, itty bitty titties, stupidity, shallow, self centered and clueless about the world around her.

Adonis, don't dilute your genes.

Curvy brunettes and redheads... :P :P :P :P It kills me to see roots on a blonde, why, oh why???

Admitting you have a problem is the first step.

What's the first thing a hippy says when he runs out of pot?

Goddamn this music sucks!
