Logic's Instruments in Live

Post by buchnaner » Wed Apr 19, 2006 1:02 am

is it possible to use Logic 7's instruments in one of Live's MIDI instruments like Impulse?

When I have Live scan for VSTs/Plugins, no Logic instruments come up...is this because Logic's instruments are not plugins or VSTs?

Put another way, are Logic's plugins and instruments limited to use in Logic alone?

please please help

Unfortunately, you need to rewire Live as a slave with Logic as the host to use the Logic instruments in Live.

There is another option, which some people claim to have found some success with ... run both program simulataneously (but not rewired) and use a program like soundflower or Audio Jack to stream audio tracks between the two and MIDI pipe to sync them up..

To give you my own perspective : when I first got Live (I worked with Logic exclusively up to then), I did a few projects using rewire and then finally realized I didn't really need most of the Logic stuff. So now I work almost exclusively in Live and only move to Logic for trickier MIDI editing orlarge audio bounces...

I understand very well.... you'll have to have a fast computer to run them both at once, but then you should be fine.... I'll try this once I update my gear.
