New to PC , looking for good freeware/shareware VST's

Post by 4amStudios » Tue May 02, 2006 7:25 pm

Well I finally had it with Apple after being ass-poked over 4 computer's ($10K worth of hardware over 4 years mind you) so I bought a Sony Vaio laptop. I am looking for some nice freeware softsynths to keep me busy till I buy my Dave Smith Evolver. So any suggestions for any cool freeware/shareware or even just some under the radar app's to peep , I would appreciate it immensely .

I produce downtempo , IDM .

I'm sure he knows about KVR, he just asked for a few suggestions. Here are some freebies I like that I don't see get mentioned as much.

Very unique stuff
http://www.jackdark.net/darkware.html
Synth1 sounds real good
http://www.geocities.jp/daichi1969/softsynth/index.html
Odo has some nice synths and drum machines
http://odosynths.panicnow.net/vst.html
And KarmaFx does get mentioned quite a lot, but only because it is so good.

And then there is always Crystal

Yeah forgot about that 'un Synchro - Curve's a good synth. SKNote's Grainz also looks promising....

Synths I wouldn't be without:

Plugsound Free http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/PlugsoundFree/

Iblit and PolyIblit http://www.bostreammail.net/ers/vstplugins.html

Superwave P8 http://home.btconnect.com/christopherg/main.htm

Triangle I and II http://www.rgcaudio.com/products.htm

plus Crystal, Lallapallooza and Synth1 - all mentioned elsewhere.
