Track tempo changes outside range!

I have read up on many tips on this forum, but I have got a bit stuck implementing one of them.

I am trying to map a slider midi controller to the tempo of a track. This I have done successfuly. I have set a range in the arrange window to one suitable for my style of music say 167-180. The problem is when I then move the assigned Midi Slider the tempo changes between the default 60-200.

Can anyone tell me why this is please as it is starting to really frustrate me....

the place where you have made the change is not the correct one. that only controls the range for the master tempo envelope

enter midi map mode

assign your controller of choice to tempo

while on this assignment, look at the bar at the bottom of the screen. these boxes are where you want to enter the range values for the controller.

glad you got it. don't feel stupid, this is a very common misunderstanding
