haven't bought so much stuff in the last 5 years, but some of my favorites...

of the poppy/indie song-based variety
why? - elephant eyelash
solvent - apples & synthesizers
styrofoam - I'm what's there to show that something is missing
xiu xiu - a promise
decemberists - picaresque
stars - heart

and along more instrumental/mellow lines
mum - summer make good
the dead texan - s/t
explosions in the sky - the earth is not a cold dead place
b. fleischmann - welcome tourist

-scotty

p.s. wish I had some noise or dark ambient recommendations but I just haven't been able to purchase enough or the right ones...

AUTECHRE: UNTILTED (some caled it Machinedrum wanking but I called it pleasant MAchinedrum wanking. It's the only thign they've done recently that I liked)

DUB: ANYTHING (I Love dub. Can't get enough)

PRETTY BOY CROSSOVER (Got both their CD's. They rule. Sweet noise stuff).
