Ummm, PC for studio (compsing with more tools), Mac for Stage and recording (more solid OS Audio components) would be the conclusion I'm coming to...
GO VEGAN!!! - Macbook Air, Bass Station II, Some Korg shit, Live Suite, U-He, Audio Damage, Microtonic, Ohmicide, more soft stuffs, awesome controllers, euro rack modular synth,an awesome cat.
I'm guessing Live 6 will be even faster due to the new duel core PCs as well once it's released? I've forgotten now, but will macs have dual core? If not, then Live 6 will be quicker on PC. As for Live 5, from what I've heard PC is faster but it's negligable unless you're maxing the system resources

This is a difficult statement to make if you refer to cpu power on a PPC chipped Mac then yes.. if u refer to a PPC Quad core Mac then I dont think so ..Quixotic wrote:i use both operating systems...i run serato on my powerbook, but based on info and research and testimonials from my crew members using it...ableton runs better on windows...also a pc would be much cheaper...
If you run it on a ne Intel mac such as the imac core duo and 5.2 it runs fantastic cpu wise.. you can boot it inot windows if you prefer of course on an Intel Based mac as it runs both OS's
So why do alot of live top level pros run it on a PPC Mac laptop rather than a more powerful Windows system ? especially in a live situation.. you'll have to ask them wont you ?
Frankly either system will work.. how reliably and easy that is very debatable.. I run a PPC powerbook Mac and a Dell desktop.. THe Desktop windows system has more power than my old laptop but I personally have less headaches on the Mac than the XP system for what I am doing.. I prefer to spend more time creating than other tings so I choose the mac and find it more reliable as far as crashes go.. it is incredibly stable and hassle free.. My XP box is ok and does the job but to me lacks a bit of finesse for want of a better word.. On occasions It frustrates me as it tends ot have a mind of it's own on occasions the mac as alsways just works. Use whatever you prefer.. If it was me and I was buying a new system then I would grab an Intel mac and dual boot into windows if I wanted or needed to..
This way the choise is always yours on a moment by moment basis.. you can have your cake and eat it to!

Na, I've built up alot of respect for macs over the years and if I liked their OS, I might use one due to the lower amount of bugs and better stability. But my liking of Windows and the ability to change parts as I please in a PC really attract me.
I apologise if it seems like I was "troll baiting" but I can assure you I wasn't. It was more of a joke
I guess someone will just need to run some tests when Live 6 comes out so we can get some real values
If mac wins, well then I'll just go hide in my cave and play Oblivion while attempting to make a decent track on Live
