Live Lite 5.2 with M-Audio's Blackbox problems

Post by Stuie » Wed May 24, 2006 12:39 am

Hello, Ive got a couple of probs with this set-up. Im using the ASIO driver that came with the Blackbox, and the latencey=11 or something like that. The first problem I have is the sound seems to crackle a bit, its recording in 16bit, maybe if I got a better sound card it may sound better??
Secondly if I unplug the blackbox the computer crashes, im unplugging it because I want to put the speaker connector in to the back of the p.c to listen to music off the web with my speakers, otherwise the sound comes through the blackbox. To be honest the Live Lite 5.2 seems fine, Im just not getting a good quality sound from the blackbox, its sounds like an old analog 4 track, I was hoping for better quality and no crackling.

Its not crashing on me anymore thank god, but its still crackling, ive been reading others posts, and it seems that the proccesor and ram memory is very important, ive got a 1.3ghz procc, and 512mb mem,Xp sp2, p.c,16bit soundcard, I'm not impressed with the sound, I havent had a reply to how I could upgrade to better quality sound, but maybe Im wasting my time with an outdated P.C and should go get a new one. When the manuals say minimum specs 1000mhz procc, and 256mb mem, maybe its ok if your recording 1 track, but seems to me without the computer freezing up, you need alot more power!

I still got crackle problems. I've adjusted latency setting and recorded in different setting, to no effect. Maybe any of my other hardware is causing the crackle?
Ive loaded different drivers, updated to the latest etcc. even reloaded Live Lite 5.2, still crackle, pee-in me off :x

i would not pay any attention to what the 'minimum requirements' are - they are totally bogus. 256mb RAM is not even enough to use winXP as far as i'm concerned

I'm using 512mb of ram, I didn't get the crackle before I got a driver conflict, and got the stop error Blue screen a few times.Thats been resolved, but still crackling.
Cool from Seattle, I live in the U.K but lived in Seattle for 5 years. Peace.
