MIDI info not reaching track

I'm recording a synth track with my joystick triggering a filter. Several strange things have happened.

At first the synth stopped making sounds after about 40 measures. I later re-recorded the entire track only to have none of my joystick commands record. I didn't make any major changes to my track settings so I'm confused.

I'm sure it's something obvious-Any ideas?

I'm sure it's something obvious-Any ideas?

first of all, what was *playing* the synth? Was it just a midi clip? Which synth was it? Which envelope settings did it have? How did it stop playing, did it just fade out or did it stop abruptly? Secondly, how was the joystick controlling the filter... midi? Was it assigned to a filter within Live? If so, then you need to record your movements either as audio, or as midi recorded into the arrangement view, since clips in session only record midi controllers, when they aren't assigned to anything with Live's assignment scheme.

BTW I think the main reason why you didn't get any response is that the initial question was quite complex - it always helps to do some testing to home in on a problem.
