Hi earthlinger, sorry to hear you still have problems. i have still not been able to have any problems with the automap. i even installed microtonic and live 5.21b successfully maps the parameters back and forth. is your SL connected via midi (through another midi interface) or directly via USB? when the automap stops working, are the play/stop buttons still working?
here are a few things to remember:
* please update the RemoteSL templates and OS to v.1.0.13 or higher
* when you switch between two tracks, Live will NOT automatically map plug-ins of the newly selected track. also clicking on the graphic interface of a VST plug-in does NOT map the plug-in parameters. in order to map it, you need to select it in the track view at the bottom (the plug-in device bar will turn yellow when the plug-in is selected)
* plug-in groups at this point only allow to automap the first plug-in in the device group. other plug-in parameters can be assigned manually.
* the upper left 'Row Select' button on the SL is programmed as a 'lock' - when you enable it, the Remote SL will remain on the currently selected plug-in independantly from what you select in Live.
* in some cases, you might not 'see' the parameters you are changing. E.g. in Impulse, you only see the parameters of the selected instrument. If you select a snare in slot 3 withing Impulse and turn the "1Transps" knob on the SL, it will change the transposition of slot 1 which is not visible for you. in this case you need to use the page buttons (top left) on the SL to skip through to "3Transps" to get to the instrument parameters in slot 3.
* if there is a problem, check if the yellow MIDI LED and the orange REMOTE LED is flashing on the top right corner in Live.
* the novation website has an answerbase article for setting up the SL with live:
