The following idea I was able to accomplish, in a roundabout way, but the awkwardness was in efficient and slowed down the work flow.
What I wanted to do was take a selection, say, Measure 14.2.0-15.2.0 and reverse some of the samples (such that they play backwards). To do this I need to beable to "split a sample"at any given time - which is easy to do. Next I would need to drag the "end of the section" (15.2.0) to the start point (14.2.0), and the start to the end... ya follow?
Perhaps this can be accomplished by allow us to turn anything into an event. This Idea beats doing a "consolidate"and then reversing the clip in an external editor 4 ways:
1. when you do a consolidate... it takes any fx applied to the segment, which in turn insures that the segment is processed twice. Right? (it seemed to do that for me!)
2. It would save harddrive space by allowing us to refrence the same audio on the harddrive.
3. It would streamline the workflow!
4. It would tie in nicely with the Warp factor... samples would then be truely "ellastic."
You can hear the inspiration for this "Wish" below, it occurs at 1:47-1:51

Well... that's my first wish.
Only been using Live about 2 weeks, and so far loving it (well, except 2 gripes posted in the bugs forum).

T
"reverse," if you will.
I'm all for a non-destructive reverse as well ...
It will only aid workflow and I couldn't imagine be rocket science to implement ...
Cheers
