Midi interface recommendations?

Post by 5dots » Wed Jul 19, 2006 6:13 pm

I'm sure this has been gone over before...

I'm looking to build my own midi controller, and will need a midi interface for my MacBook. Ideally, something small, as I'd like to try to fit the interface inside the controller's casing so you'd never see it. Also ideally cheap, as the rest of the controller is probably going to cost a fair bit...

Maybe someone savvier can help me out with another issue relating to this. I'm planning on using the Doepfer Pocket Electronic kit (http://www.doepfer.de/pe.htm), which only allows for 16 knobs/switches/etc. I'd like more than 16, and I know I should be able to use 2 of the Pocket Electronics to do that. Will this mean that I'll need an interface with two inputs?

Depending on the answer to that, I'll need either a 1-in or 2-in interface.

Any help?

I have both Midisport 2x2 and 4x4 - no problems what so ever. These are probably to big though. But I know there's one now that they call Midisport UNO (or something). Should be OK based on my experiences. Maybe you can even unhook it from its casing.

Regards,
Mikael

Thanks! I've been looking at the Uno, and the size is probably about right, but there's that issue of whether or not I can get by with only one in...

Sorry... Didn't read that far.

No big deal :)

Hopefully someone else can help out? This is the part that I'm really clueless about, I'll admit.
