Hello peeps,

For anyone who is interested here is a link to a DJ mix created exclusively with ableton live 5, a behringer rotary MIDI controller, and a small evolution MIDI keyboard (for triggering clips) in a single take situation.

3 tracks in live, each containing an EQ3, an auto filter, and a ping pong delay. The master track contains a compressor 2 and an EQ4.

The file is called technodub.mp3 and is about 40MB in size. It is hosted by the free hosting site megaupload.com, and as

such, you may be bombarded temporarily with adverts (such is life). Once the page has loaded, you will need to enter the code

supplied, and click download on the top right hand side of the page

First Time i found someone with the same DubTek Vynils as me!!
Do you play live? with any preparation or you play your tracks as it comes.....a real dj live! but hard for the pitch!

to answer your question ... yes, this is a live mix. I usually start out with some ideas in mind, and I know 'roughly' some of the tracks that I will play, but not all ... as the mix progresses beyond the first few tracks, then it usually becomes completely spontaneous ... took me a while to become 'fluent' in ableton, but now that I am I find that it flows effortlessly.

and yes, spontaneous mixing of tracks with wide range of tempos can be a bummer ... but I find that dropping a slow track now and then is not a problem so long as the track has power ... dropping a fast one is always good cause it energises the dancefloor

... easy to do in ableton with the track warping switched off!
