Forgiven.

The universal binary is LIVE written in slightly different code for the new intel chips.

Apps that are not universal binary will have to be run under emulation (Rosetta) of the PPC chip architecture and instructions. Therefore, there is a huge performance hit.

Basically, you need the UB of LIVE for it to perform up to snuff on the intelmacs, and only UB third party plugs will be available to the UB of LIVE.

HOpe that helps.

Cheers,

Additionally, you will not be able to use non-UB plugins.

Doesn't a UB have two images in it, one for the PC compatible stuff, another for the old school Mac?

It's funny, anytime I ever want to ask a question like 'what is a...' I hit up wikipedia and woot, there it is.

Good question though, it's an odd topic. I'm a PC guy and I pay no attention to Apple's shenanigans whatsoever.
