I guess we will see how pathetic once we see the price.

That is so when you press the HOLD key, you know where you left off at.I'm kinda curious as to why there is that light grid on the touch pad. it looks as if you could almost use it like a step sequencer or something.
As an existing KP2 user, I would say that this upgrade is only so/so. Kind of like when Roland came out with the SP-404 sampler from the SP-303. Not a huge increase in features, but nice for certain users.
The biggest plus for the KP3 in my opinion is for traditional DJs. The KP3 will do automatic BPM detection and output MIDI clock...
I just cant believe they built that light grid into it, but didnt give you the option of easily breaking the pad into different sized buttons for triggering. Sure, you can do it with max and stuff like that, but shit, they could have written that in overnight. The individual lights would just piss me off every time i touched them.

i agree. and ya, i do that in max right now. and its fine. but there are alot of people that would have no clue where to begin with something like that. Its just another thing that could have quickly been implimented.computo wrote:this isnt that cool.
Aside from some addons that the first kaoss pad should have had, this is no biggie.
The fact that there's no step sequencer despite the lights is retarded.
Leave it to Korg to leave out the key stuff.
PS, whoever wanted area pads for triggering, you can do that in Max.

It's a long time since I wanted a KP2. I didn't really have the money, and secretly I was also waiting for the new version to arrive...I have to say it looks sexy...
Turn up the radio. Turn up the tape machine. Look into the sunset up ahead. Roll the windows down for a better taste of the cool desert wind. Ah yes. This is what it's all about. Total control now.

i do believe the folks over at creatdigitalmusic have a writeup of the beast which suggests that its a fairly powerful tool, functioning as a 64-beat step sequencer; quote "virtually every single control sends and receives MIDI", which can only be a good thing. My only fear is that the individual pixels may be to small to hit consistantly. Until i get a hands on, the monome has got my main interest in terms of step sequencers...
