what do you guys use for stereo imaging/ enhancing?
at the studio, my audio engineer uses waves s1, but it is not compatible with live (or is it)? any suggestions of other stereo imagers/enhancers?

Some plug from steinberg.
Nevertheless, I'm coming to the conclusion that nothing does as well as "manually" adding space to a track by dividing it in two channels, one panned left, one right, and independently changing the EQ, chorus, etc.

Turn up the radio. Turn up the tape machine. Look into the sunset up ahead. Roll the windows down for a better taste of the cool desert wind. Ah yes. This is what it's all about. Total control now.

okay, more serious answers:
- erosion has this "wide noise" feature. it adds different noisy distortion to left / right channel, might be usefull for hihats or snares. compare "noise" with "wide noise" under headphones using a mono input signal
- vinly distortions "pinch" effect part adds odd harmonics 180 degrees out of phase to a signal. might be good on drums or bass if applied gently.
- live 6 eq 8 does also M/S mode, allowing to enhance stereo signals frequency selective
- operator and simpler / sampler have that spread function which uses two detuned voices to create a chorusing stereo effect. side effect: all random lfo things are left / right independend
- grain delay can be used to subtly add depth to strings and atmospheres if dry/wet is close to zero and spray is > 0
