I already bought the 3 octave keys from them-including electronic MKE and bend wheel, still looking for someone to built a chassis. Seeing yours I feel like making it all(or just more) in one solution- 16 faders and perhaps 16 (or more) pots What would I need to get from Doepfer ? You are obviously the expert to be asked
So one set of PE for 16 faders and one/two for 16/32 pots(I am not sure if there is enough space for 32) ? I want to assign thepots to FX sends mainly. Since the idea is to have permanent assign, as I am fedup with all those 1-8/9-16 sets, PE should be OK. What would be advantage of using Dial E. instead?
The pot vs. encoder argument goes back and forth. I like pots because I like dedicated start/stop positions on the knob. On the other hand, I wish I had at least a couople encoders so I could navigate around session view.

I like the fact that you put a phones output on it. I assume the fader on the far right is master volume? The label looks like 'plesh'.
I'd kinda ruled the doepfers out as an option for building a controller - are there any good forums or websites where one can go for info? I went to m-control.com but the page won't load for me...

One of these days I'll turn m-control.com into an educational resource for hardware MIDI controller projects...
At this point, I would suggest research on the midibox.org forums - there are a lot of great resources to pull from there.
The phones output is a simple unamplified connection, no fancy audio dials going on there. Everything is a MIDI control, or an interface for the actual electronics inside.
I chose doepfer instead of a Midibox because I wanted to maintain commercial viability (ie: sell them one of these days). If you want to make a single good controller, I'd suggest Midibox. If you want to build a workshop selling them, I'd choose doepfer, as the Midibox folks are fiercely anti-commercial and largely DIY-only.
