not enough bus power for 2 midi controllers?

Post by djro » Mon Aug 14, 2006 10:26 pm

I'm running Live with an M-Audio Radium 49 keyboard controller and the X-session DJ midi controller both thru USB on a mackbook pro. Often in Live, the midi controls for the Radium keyboard just stop working, and in the mdiid prefs. the name is in yellow. i tired using the power adapter for the radium, to no avail. Is this too much power the the UBS bus? CPU never maxes out, goes to about 60-70% at most.

Also on the x-sesion, there is sometimes static like noise when moving the crossfader- any solutions?

Thanks in advance.

Its absolutely not a bus issue. I would guess it has to do with the connection on the controller. You might try it with midi instead of USB if you have another device with midi in.

This might be a M-audio driver fault as from using Live from version 3 - 5 I sometimes had to switch my old Keystation Pro 88 of and on to get it to work again.

ya, the M-audio stuff seems to be a lot more stable since the evolution series. I have some problems like hat with my keystation too every now and then. The computer just doesnt like them.

But once again, its definetly not a bus issue. you arent running anything that would task the bus very much. They can actually take quite a beating if you put them to the test.
