midi program change

Post by teeto » Fri Aug 18, 2006 7:31 am

Hi there,
I have a m-audio midi keyboard controller.
I enter a midi instrument in Live and i can play with my keyboard, but when i try to change the program (preset in the instrument) with the keyboard program-change buttons Live doesnt anything.
How program-change works in Live?
Thanks!

With my Novation Remote SL25 I go into program change mode and it just works, it might be that your controller isn't compatible. Sorry, that's all I can say. Which controller do you have? Live 6 will have support for specific controllers.

some vsts respond to program change, and some don't. reaktor and all the NI stuff does, but it's pretty patchy for other vsts. as far as hardware goes it's should work, you might have a midi routing problem maybe?

It may be. I enter an instrument in a midi track and I/Os are "all inputs" & out to master. The midi from "all channels". I dont know if i send a program change how ableton knows which instrument should respond.
I think it cant be the keyboard controller, im sure it sends program change becouse the manual says it.
May it be the midi channel? do i have to put the input a specific channel? If i do this, the 9fader-mixer of the keyboard (it works on all presets through channel 0) wont work for channels>0...
Can somebody help me?

The track has to be set to "monitor in" in order to accept program changes.
