solo prelistening button

Hi,
I'm sure this is easy for u guys, I tried to use the search button but I always got like 6000 hits. I'm using live 5 and a ESI u46dj and just wanted to know how to pre listen tracks. The solo/prelisten button is grey and I can't figure out how to use it. Normally I use live to record. So it would be very nice if someone could give me a hint.

Make sure you have the IO details showing.
set 'master out' to something different to 'monitor out' you should notice the 'solo' button in the master section lights up. Press it and it will say 'cue' ,all the solo buttons turn into cue buttons
