The only dude i can think off is nostradamus.
I think his bet is on WW3
bet that guy is a real hoot at parties!funknotik wrote:I recently read an article about Carl Sagan, about how he didnt believe in the drake equation. (A theoretical physics equation that suggests there must be intelligent life in our galaxy other than ourselves.) One of the main reasons he didnt believe there was intellgient life ( atleast in this galaxy). Is because he says one of the problems with evolution is that eventually technology causes living beings to destroy there own planets. Either by nuclear fallout (as in mars, supposebly). Or by overwhelming environmental disaster. This theory is known as the fermi paradox
The amazing part is that we are intelligent enough to know this but not intelligent enough to stop it. We will destroy ourselves! So fill up your hummer and prepare to die!

"Because of the solar heat on the sea of Euboea the fishes half cooked. The inhabitants will come to cut them when Rhodes and Genoa will fail them the biscuit.
Pour la chaleur solaire sus la mer
De Negrepont les poissons demi cuits:
Les habitants les viendront entamer
Quand Rhod. et Gennes leur faudra le biscuit.
The solar heat is often interpreted as a nuclear blast but the inhabitants would hardly eat radioactive fish. The only other feasible source for this extreme heat would be a comet or meteor striking off the shores of the Greek island of Euboea.2 Various quatrains point to a comet. Damage from shockwaves, tidal waves, and debris would, of course, be horrendous. The Euboeans evidently have to eat the fish when disaster relief expected from Rhodes and Genoa fails to arrive on time."
My interpretation is different: there you have it, global warming induced biscuit failure.
yes, but you may have no choice several of Nostradamus' more ominous quatrains refer to 'the great star' and heat from the sky/double suns.hoffman2k wrote:I hope i never run into fish biscuitsmikemc wrote:Future Quatrain II-3: Impact in the Aegeanhoffman2k wrote:Has there ever been a generation that didn't think/hope that the world would end in their lifetime?

has anyone else heard about Mars - apparently on the 27th of this month it will be the closest it' been in thousands of years - supposedly in some places will appear almost as big as the moon - so I was told...mikemc wrote:

funny you say that - actually one of te main reasons alot of this stuff concerns me is because as long as I can remember I've had apocalyptic dreams - and I dont just mean end of the world fear stuff, but quite detailed things Like sailing up the river of my home city and it's all overgrown with forest after being destroyed years earlier - and that particular dream was more about how beautiful the scene was more than fear etc - and it's always stuck with meglu wrote:I heard this about mars a few years ago. I could see a huge red star, but it didn't look like the moon. It was a real treat though.
When I was a kid, I used to have reoccuring dreams of supernovas and exploding stars, always accompanied by a field of watchers, hanging out in the back of pick up trucks, on top of a giant hill...
Maybe by the equator, mars might be larger... I don't know, I think that has something to do with the atmosphere and distortion, but i wouldn't be surprised to see a giant red star in the sky.... just as long as there aren't any exploding stars or supernovas.
