yeah, fox news is well known for just making stuff up, which no one catches, of course, b/c they can't easily check it via other new outlets, the internet, papers, etc. by contrast, papers like the times haven't had any issues lately with publishing blatantly false things, having to fire reporters who just made stuff up, etc. if only fox news were as reliable as the other media, like reuters and its doctored fotos, etc.

jack - I didn't mean to imply you're a dumbo in the wordplay, dumb can't be fixed, conservatism can. We're here for you. Stay strong brotha.

We'll start by reading the constitution, then move onto the works of Chomsky, Franken, Jefferson, and Adams.

...and no more Fox for a while, not until we show you how to watch it, not view it, but watch it.

Which is better than most of the 24 hours news outlets we have here. And I use outlets in a meaningful fashion. IE, they are there to sell you the news, the paranoia, the fear......It's what keeps so many people coming back for more. It's like a fix. Wait, i am not scared anymore, must.....go.....watch......Fox.....

you think that after the constitution you go right to chomsky, rather than federalist papers and the like, a slew of history, then perhaps chomsky somewhere way down the line? put another way, you really think chomsky's a constitutional thinker of any repute? what's chomsky's field again? linguistics? yeah, that's who i'd look to after reading the constitution (he's from MIT, so he's gotta know what he's talking about!).

Yeah yeah yeah, the old lines haters throw out over Chomsky and his failed career as a linguist. he has an amazing knack for recalling history and linking events together. Brilliant man.

Federalist papers, good call. I've been out of high school too long or in too many bars, I don't know any more. I should find my old US history books I'm sure I'd enjoy them more now.

any news outlet that trumpets slogans like "fair and balanced" and "we report, you decide" has already lost its credibility.

it reminds me of "victory gin" or "the PEOPLE'S republic of china"

I thought Chomsky built the foundation for the current generation of linguists before turning to politics/social commentary.

What is it with linguists, brilliance, and such a knack for history?

Viz, Umberto Eco is one of my favorite writers. Well, he was really a semiotician, but they are close, no?
