hrfq.com New Digital Music Store

Post by HRFQ » Tue Sep 05, 2006 10:14 am

We just opened up our new dance music download store two weeks ago.

We've almost got 250 labels now so plenty of stuff to mix up in Ableton.

Unfortunately, your browser detection seems to be broken. You claim to support Firefox 1.5 or later on Windows, but won't let me in with Firefox 1.5.0.6. I'll email you about this...

Firefox issue should be fixed shortly. Sorry about the trouble.

Krugger : The server is currently based in Japan but we are looking into having one based in maybe Europe or America also. If you let me know via pm what country you are in and your internet connection this wll help us greatly!

All very interesting, but why no wav files? I am all for online music distribution but must quality of the product suffer?

Personally I would not play an Mp3 in a club and I'm sure many others on this forum share my opinion. If hrfq is to be a true club music download site then surely you should offer music for sale in the quality it was intended to be heard at.

I have had great difficulty finding online distributors that offer wav's. Also Beatport have recently changed their pricing structure in the UK so that we now pay in pounds rather than dollars, this means that it now costs an extra £1 rather than $1 (50p) for wav format. I would imagine that Beatport are your main competitors so surely you could use this as an opportunity to market your store as better value than theirs? If only in the UK.

I thought the overall selection of music and look of the site was very good btw...

Thanks for the feedback Macriada. Both positive and negative comments are always good to help us out.

At the moment we area two week old site so the decision came down to a matter of server space and current market demand. But yeah, the amount of people like yourself who go for WAVs is growing so I've got my eyes and mind on that area of digital distribution.

For now we are cheaper for UK & European residents on 192kbps and 320kbps MP3s and if/when we can go about offering WAVs I'm hopeful we can be the cheapest there too.

I'm having problems with buffering when playing the samples, I mean I listen 2 seconds, it fades out, 1 second off and back again.... but not big deal. the real problem was after selecting 9 items... clicked the check out box and my browser just crashed. Safari 2.0.4
Next time I'll try with Camino... but today I already lost 1 hour for nothing. Sorry... I hate crashes.... Hope you solve this soon, 'cos there's great music there to "be bought".... (finnally I found something else from koss... great stuff!)
Cheers.

Sorry about the crash. I'll have IT look into that and the buffer problem.

And Koss is really good! Have you listened to his "Four Worlds Converge As One"? Very cool album. And he has also just teamed up with Saiko Tsukamoto to form the duo Saikoss, but I haven't heard their stuff yet.

We've given the top page a nice little layout overhaul. Should be much easier to follow now.

We've also just upload the Border Community catalogue. Loving that 'Some Polyphony' action!

Definately nice site.
Only thing you could make better is to have a playlist for the player,
as trackitdown has.
You could cue tunes in player and listen to them while doing other stuff.
But anyway, great site.
