I've had so many problems with all of my USB controllers. It did the same thing for me with the padKontrol and BCR showing up as a "USB Audio Device"
Usually I do a "Update Driver" in control panel.... force it to use the proper driver (don't do autodetect) and then reboot... it generally seems to work now as long as i don't change the USB port they are plugged into.
Now the BCR, BCF, Remote25, padKontrol, midisport, and EMI 2|6 all seem to play nicely and all powered by USB...
EDIT: oh and I couldn't get them to work if I put a USB hub on. It just caused problems all over. I bought 3 different hubs and none of them would allow everything to be plugged in. From here on out I only use onboard USB ports.
Why is my Trigger Finger???
My Trigger Finger does the same thing.
I've had problems with my Trigger Finger too.
Setup
iMac 1.84GHz Intel Core Duo
Trigger Finger
O2
Firewire Audiophile
My TF only works in one port. While the 02 and Audiophile work perfectly. Plus I'm running a Mac so there's really no way of updating drivers, since the TF is "class compliant."
If anyone figures out how to update the drivers on a Mac let me know.

Oh yeah...Check this. I thought the problem was hardware related in the Mac, so I took it to the apple store to get it checked out. They thought it was something with the mother/logic board, so they replaced the whole logic board, ($700+ repair) for free of course, apple protection plan, AND IT STILL DIDN"T FIX THE PROBLEM
I have a new black macbook (Core 2 Duo) and have exactly the same problem. Very annoying and as others have suggested you cannot update drivers as they are *class compliant*
Was also told on another board to buy a new USB cable (gold plated) and a Power Supply for the Trigger Finger itself. Did both of these and made no difference what-so-ever

Trigger Finger looks nice, but M-Audio USB audio drivers sucked on PC, and their firewire drivers suck on mac.
Somebody suggested getting a hub..... I have one attached to a USB switch to switch between a G5 and Macbook pro, it works pretty well. USB is picky though, when I turn on my desktop, the printer will take out the powered Logitech mouse, unplug and plug it back in, works fine.
Why would the Trigger Finger only work in one out of four USB ports though? Makes me curious as to whether it's not a problem with the laptop?
