'General' Forum Split?

Post by monoschall » Fri Oct 20, 2006 11:17 am

Would be great if the 'General' Forum could be split into 'Live General' and 'Off-topic General'

I'm tired of reading through the 'Are you a prositute?', 'US marine's Baghdad liveset' and 'Is your dick a vegan?' posts!!

Especially as the US elections are coming up - it's going to hard to find the Live issues between all the Dem/Rep mud-slinging posts.

Best regards!
Andrew

yeah + another 2,000,000

and before anyone starts with the "this is a public forum" bla bla, we're not asking for OT threads to be banned, moderated, restricted etc.

we're just asking for a sub section and i suppose we're also asking if peeps would be kind enough to chuck those OT threads in this dedicated section.
anyone who fancies an OT read can go there anytime.

Absolutely! It's getting harder and harder to weed thru all the political bullcrap to find the useful information.

maybe everybody could sort through their posts and email you directly with "important" information.
at least OT topics have the chance of being funny or interesting.
this one is a true waste of time. :D

+1,
there was already a poll about this before...
i find splitting would be a great idea.
everyone would have his place.
(that's the reason because i visit this forum less and less...)

this comes up fairly regularly. Frankly i don't care either way, but as it stands right now there's only this general forum and it's really not that hard to only click on threads you want to read....

also, i reality, there aren't as many OT posts as on topic. What genereally happens is that a few OT threads get harped on and turn into 15+ page flame warzones, the rest get swept downstream.

I'm not saying you shouldn't ask to split the forum if you want to(in fact, i think you should say whatever you want to say, on or off topic), i'm just saying that i don't think its as bad overall as it seems some days.

Precisely. This forum is getting swamped with immature posts pointing to crap at you tube and the threads actually talking about something to do with Live get buried rather quickly. But in the end this is a moot point because any kind of "split" will not be monitored much less enforced.

I'm a long time advocate of leaving things as they are, using OT prefixes.
but now, I'm fucking sick of it....I'm sick of the endless youtube links, and the endless animated gifs. and the american politics. It certainly doesnt bring out the best in me.
