Ableton Live Skin Editor Now Available

Post by mattsonic » Tue Oct 24, 2006 1:12 am

I just received this message:
Hi Matt,

Sorry for responding late to your request regarding the skin editor. This landed on my desk while I have been traveling and, generally, very busy.

We have no problem with the skin editor being published. Quite frankly, my understanding of the legal matters involved here is very limited and I would rather not hold this up longer than I already have, so please accept a revocable permission.

In any case, thanks for your enthusiasm for Live!

Best, Gerhard

While this letter doesn't really provide any legal protection, it's good enough for me. So, without further ado, the beta test is now open.

For the first few days only SonicTransfer newsletter subscribers can download the editor. This is to ensure that everyone is using the latest version while the major bugs are ironed out.

To download the editor for Windows & Mac:

1) Go to sonictransfer.com and sign up for the free newsletter.
2) You should instantly get an email telling you where to download the editor.
3) If you don't get the instructions, then email me.

After you make some cool skins, share them with the world by uploading to the Ableton Skin Library.

Happy Producing!

Matt Sonic

Gotta love it. Another example of the Abes showing their involvement with and appreciation for their end-users...such a rarity among most companies these days...

maybe you're trying to open the .bin? try using zipit to extract the archive. the app is called 'SkinEditor', and there are a few support files.

maybe. i get four files in zipit that i extract to a folder. double click the .bin and the skin editor app appears, then double click that. works for me...

i think the problem is the bin format, it is linked to my vlc-player, so every time i doubleclick it, vlc will load.
