How do I back up my files?

I have lots of tracks saved on my hard drive, warped and ready to go. I have been using live to dj with mp3s for a few months and I am accumulating a nice library of warped tracks. When I try to copy my warped tracks on to cd so that i can free up space on the hard drive I loose the warping. I slip the cd into my laptop and copy the songs i want for a particular set into a desktop folder. Then, when I open them in the session view to mix with they are not warped correctly anymore. I've tried rendering warped mp3s and saving on to cd, thinking that if it was recorded in Live then it will warp more accurately when brought back into Live. I thought wrong. Most of the time Live doesn't even get the first beat accurately this way. So do I have to keep everything on my hard drive to avoid constantly re-warping tracks?

You need to copy the asd files as well.

asd files also store the location of the file.
If you use the ableton library to organize your files, you'll almost never run into problems.

If you move files all over the place, you're pretty much screwed.

By "Library", do you mean the File Browser in Live?
I guess because it moves the asd file for you with the main file?

Ableton's library is in:
Mac: Users/"your user name"/Library/Application Support/Ableton/Library
Windows: My Documents/Ableton/Library

Put your music collection on an external harddrive. They'll all be in one place, with there accompanying .asd file, no need to move around. Think of it like your record (music collection) crate.

What's special about the Library folder? Does Live treat it differently?

So if you move a file and it's asd, the info in the asd won't be good anymore?
