Racks User Library...

Post by nobbystylus » Thu Nov 02, 2006 1:51 pm

Anybody know of, or else think it would a great idea to have an online user library (similar to Reaktors) of Ableton Racks? Racks have opened up new potential for synth/effect/weirdness creation and it would be dead handy to have a centralised place for this...

Thoughts?

i suppose a simple way would be if the Abe's stickied a 'Racks User LIbrary' post, and we could all link to ours from there.. but it would be nice if it was a bit more searchable/user friendly like the reaktor user library is..

I'm also kind of surprised that Live doesn't have something like AcidPlanet. The Live community seems huge, but some of the kinds of organized community extensions that exist for other products haven't developed for Live. A centralized place for rack, etc sharing--the User Library suggested above--and a place for posting Live-centric compositions and hosting remix competitions (like AcidPlanet's 8Packs), etc seem like inevitable outgrowths of Live-dom that haven't happened yet, though it may be early as Instrument Racks are only a month old.
What it is (for Now): (2) Lenovo Dual Core desktops, Edirol PCR-800, Sonar 8.5 PE, Live 8 w/Operator and Sampler, the unloved PT 8, Kontakt 4, Battery 3, GPO 4, mulititudinous plugs and libraries, much unused hardware. And... silence; much silence.

We started one on the Live DJ's Forums BTW:

Feel free to use it, or add to it.

I think I tried to register with ADJ & never got confirmed. Do you guys have actual server space, or are people just posting external links?

Ableton needs to pony up some actual server space for this!

They can have a file upload size limit so only racks & skins & clips & presets & sets with no samples are uploaded.

Threads are good, but these 3rd party uploading sites are cheezey, and the links die alll to often!
GO VEGAN!!! - Macbook Air, Bass Station II, Some Korg shit, Live Suite, U-He, Audio Damage, Microtonic, Ohmicide, more soft stuffs, awesome controllers, euro rack modular synth,an awesome cat.
