an annoying problem that i'm having...

Post by mosca » Tue Mar 30, 2004 2:58 pm

i have an Edirol PCR50 connected for my Live controling needs. I boot up Live (and assuming that it does not crash) and start work after a couple of minutes the master volume of Live goes up and down then eventually settles - I thought that this may have been something to do with the slider on the PCR50 that i've assigned to the volume control so I open up the MIDI setup and de-select the controller for the volume slider.

The volume still goes up and down, this along with the crashing is starting to piss me off.

any thoughts??

I should also point out that this has been a constant problem since version 3.0.2

Hi mosca,

Please let me know which computer platform do you use?
Please also send me the "Log.txt" file of Live 3.0.2 and Live 3.0.3.

1) Crashing when Live is starting
- At which point is it crashing?
- Is there an error message coming up?

2) The master volume
- Does this happen always or just with a special song?

regards,
Alex

I'm sorry, this may be a silly question, but certain 3rd party effects cause Live to crash on me. Most notably crazy ivan. This has happened while deleting an effect from a chain while playing and also from stopping the play. Ableton crashes on me somewhat often, but I have attributed it to 3rd party plugs and not to Ableton. I am running version 2.1.1 on os10.3.3

Is this of interest to you Alex? Should I begin sending log files when this occurs in the fiture?

Alex,

Where's the log file again?

I am running Live on a 2.4ghz F/S Laptop, 256Mb ram, Win XP Pro

The crashing at startup seemed to be caused by MDA plugins, Buffer Override & occasionally supatriga (this has now been sorted by reverting to 3.0.2)

The volume problem happens all the time.

Hi smutek,

internally the VST handling was restructured from Live 2 to Live 3 so it is not easy to say if a log from a Live 2 will help us. But would be nice if you can still send it to me
(The system crash log and Live's own log file "...\Preferences\Ableton\Live 2.1.1\Log.txt")

Alex

Hi mosca,

the log file is located here. Please send me both logs.

Live 3.0.2:
"...\Program Files\Ableton\Live 3.0.2\Preferences\Log.txt"

Live 3.0.3:
"...\Program Files\Ableton\Live 3.0.3\Preferences\Log.txt"

Alex
