EQ8 low and high pass filter creation?

Post by markone » Wed Nov 08, 2006 10:51 am

In Ableton 5, a preset was created (by the Phat Conductor I think) for EQ4 where by points 2 and 3 were kept stationary (low and high respectively) and points 1 and 4 were default at about 860Hz, but could be adjusted. Point 1 could move down I believe acting like a low pass filter and point 4 could move up acting like a high pass filter.

Some of this might be sligtly wrong but I don't have the file infront of me, and I'm sure you get the idea.

When applying these settings to EQ8, by only have points 1 to 4 turned on (and points 5 to 8 turned off), set to stereo and 100%, I can't recreate the same working of the EQ.

Before hand, in the default position for EQ4 any sound going into it would sound uneffected before alterations were made to points 1 or 4, now in the default position for EQ8 (following the alterations I stated above) it sounds like there is high and low missing from the sound.

I know I have set something up incorrectly, but I'm not sure what. Is there an easy fix?

Thanks (sorry for the waffle!!)

I believe resonance was set to 0.70 in those presets.

OK,

Having had a fiddle I think I have set it up correctly. Will post more lately if I still have a problem

Thanks,

I'd already looked at that this morning. Very interesting but a bit more advanced than one I had intended to do. I'll move on to that once I've sorted out the more simplified one I am working on.

Actually that is the same as I've just done, I just thought it was different due to the images!

I'll move on to the macros tonight then and see how I get on.
