To me, the best deal in powered monitors are the KRK Rokit 8's.

No amp needed.
Well made and sturdy.
Great sound.
Clear frequency response even at high volumes.
CHEAP!

I am thinking about getting the powered 10" subwoofer to complement my Rockit 8's soon, just for more detail in extended bass frequencies.

If you're looking for small, I'd actually reccommend this:

You can get this system for about $150 USD. It sounds incredible for the money! THX certified and comes with a sub! For the money I think these are the best speakers you can find! I tried out many, many systems before buying the Klipsch, even systems costing 2x as much.

Oh and although they are small, they are EXTREMELY LOUD!

I gues for a sub I'll go with the KRK ones... cheaper and should do the job along with the genies.

My vote goes to KRK V4s too.......I actually have a pair of Adam P11As which I used to use but they are sitting in boxes beneath the desk......too loud for my room.....
