Just watched the video, man. Good stuff! Lots of homework went into this template too, I heart that.

Oh, and I dig the hat-change and the Canadian accent much, eh ;-)

as we used to say in the old days -"vasbyt", tricil.

(it means something like "hold fast" or "hang in there".) And not just 'cos we're looking forward to the windows version of that template.

If you're using windows with this template, do you have to wear the funny hats? That's just a Mac thing, right?

Im starting to wonder exactly where the skill is now. Is it memorizing your triggers. This obviously offers way more flexability and Im more intriqued now then ever. Mixing was an art, blending songs by ear and sometimes they are a smidge off and that made a new groove. Now everything is locked perfectly. You almost cant make a mistakes. Kinda seems a little sterile
I have been mixing and watching all kindza djs and laptop performers for years.... I have yet to see a laptop performer that is fun to watch like an old school dj. I still use a TFS system with technic 1200's and that feels like analog mixing to me. More and more as an analog dj, you realize those skillz are almost worthless to develope. I have to admitt its feeling kinda old tho. I have a pc laptop with live, when will the pc version be ready?

I don't want to start this old argument again, but as a previous "analogue" dj I really hated not having the precise control that Live brings. We need a new word for the boundary figures in the zone between dj and live musician such as Phats. Mixing other people's tracks with original material to make a subtly different kind of entertainment.

But in the end, no matter how you do it, it's all about the choons. Some of the best DJs I know can't beatmatch a damn, but have a nose for the right track at the right time. I have to say I'd go for function over form any day.

I disagree. "DJ" has never meant 1 thing to all people. Think back - the old detroit DJs used to throw in their own beats and arrangements alongside what they played on the TTs. There are other DJ's that scratch and cut. They are all still commonly refered to as a DJ.

What makes them a GOOD DJ is getting a response from the crowd.

It's the same with todays Live Performers. ANYONE can throw together a 74min mix in Live that is perfectly beatmatched. Does that make him/her a GOOD DJ? Absolutely not...

we've got a bunch of new songs together, includnig some soulful dnb stuff, but i don't think we'll be posting any other teasers until we're closer to the album release date.

also: my house got hit by lightning and i lost a lot of stuff. four of the best album songs are completely gone and i'm still saving up for data recovery.

we have a new visual project though, and some cool new shirts and stuff. you can check it out at www.myspace.com/yourtextheretoronto

will this work good for mpd 24?

(since it has more faders and knobs what would be the use for the extras?)
