Live looping and track selection

Post by Wiooi » Fri Dec 01, 2006 12:06 am

This question may have come up before but I will put it out there again anyway.

When using looping 'on the fly' using the 'set loop position' buttons via a midi controller, you obviously can loop in and out, and then turn the loop off.

My problem is that you can only do it for the track you are looking at. Even if i assign different midi keys to the alternate track, it still edits the track that is on my screen.

Is there a way around this?

Thanks again

Even if i assign different midi keys to the alternate track
you are assigning those keys not to a different track(s), but to whatever clip is active.

you need to work with selecting the track you want to loop.

u can use arrow keys to step through the slots and select. also there is a preference as to whether firing a clip selects it. you may wanna play with that off and see if you like it...

ok, thanks for that, i see what you are saying

I guess I am using this for djing, therefore I ususally don't have songs on the same track. I think the easy solution is to assign midi keys to select the track you want to use, before using the looping funcitons. Just a pain in the arse if you want to be setting two loops at the same time for example.

i'm sorry.

in my last post, replace "track" with "clip."

its per clip not per track.

not what you wanted to hear, but youre figuring it out.

at least to start you'll prolly wanna play with looping while looking at that clip, to get a feel for it...

so if that happens NOT to be the last clip you triggered (if that preference is on) then just select the one u want by clicking it to see it.
